Windows software protection platform

If you reset the service but the Sppsvc. Run a full malware scan with your scanner of choice. Then run a full antivirus scan. This is a process best left to be done overnight. If the scans find nothing, move on to the next step. Windows Safe Mode is a way to load Windows with the minimum amount of services, drivers and processes running in the background. It is a good way to determine if the Microsoft Software Protection Platform Service is having issues with a program or something else.

Run your computer in Safe Mode for the same period of time it usually took for Sppsvc. According to the first post, it seems to be fairly common. Should we take it as a bug of WS? I thought I would try your suggestions when it occurred again, but it has not happened since last time. I will report back should it takes place again. My worker role, which processes thousands of credit card transactions each night, just doesn't work sometimes because "The software protection service has stopped".

This makes the entire cloud service go down and is costing us TONS of money. I thought running in the cloud was supposed to prevent these types of things from happening Typical MSFT. I'm going to port this service to another language and just move over to Amazon.

Not in server. My PC is windows 10 pro. It freezes every 5 minutes or lesser than that it comes back after a few seconds. The Software Protection service SPP is designed to verify activation of any app that is registered with it. This includes Office and many Windows services. I would guess that services like Exchange, SQL, and most others are also a part of this. Every time a registered app starts, it will send a request to SPP to verify the activation.

If your copy of Windows is not activated, SPP will not start. If SPP does not start for any reason, SPP registered apps will fail to verify activation and they will not be permitted to run. After 30 seconds of inactivity, SPP will shut down. The problem is that SPP can take a long time to start and will often time out, even though your system is properly registered. A second attempt will usually get it started, but I don't want to retry 2 and 3 times just to open a Word doc.

Server apps will not automatically retry once they fail the activation check. I set the InactivityShutdownDelay to 0x Once it starts, the SPP will run for 24 hours without shutting down. This should be enough for a workstation. For server apps, try this and check your logs. If needed, you can try a longer timeout. I do agree with Lain from an earlier posting The SQL Server communicates with our web server for live data.

All for good reasons Have been seeing loads of Log on request coming to SQL Server from varies countries, masked of course. Afterwords, SPP was creating logs. At present It has stopped. So far I do not know if there is any problem for our web server to communicate with the SQL Server in office. I do not know how to check that. Tr0ntech, I'm so grateful for your post. I've been fighting a problem with Word crashing in a citrix app for about 4 months now and setting the InactivityShutdownDelay solved it.

I had to use the WowNode on this server so posting that for others. The suggested time of worked fine on this server. Type control userpasswords2 and click OK. Click on add under users tab. I would actually like you to explain the users to delete or cripple the reg. If MS can't protect their products without interrupting my convenience and invading my privacy they should not attempt to do so. I, as well as many people like myself demand the method to get rid of the service until MS finds a silent way of piracy checking. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another.
